About Derrick Sims
Hi, I’m a Certified Sex and Relationship Coach, trained through the Sexual Health Alliance. Before becoming a coach, I worked as a case manager in a healthcare setting, helping people navigate medical and personal challenges. That experience taught me how to listen deeply, uncover what’s really going on, and create supportive plans for lasting change.
I’ve been married for over 22 years, and my wife and I have raised two amazing kids—one in college and one in high school. We love art, hiking, traveling, and taking walks with our two dogs. Like most couples, we’ve been through just about everything: parenting ups and downs, financial stress, health struggles, intimacy changes, and even loss. Those experiences shaped my belief that honest communication and compassion are at the heart of every strong relationship.
As a coach, I offer a judgment-free, sex-positive space where you can talk openly about your desires, curiosities, and challenges. I understand that everyone’s sexuality is unique, and that exploring it can sometimes feel awkward or even intimidating. My goal is to help you and your partner communicate more clearly, feel more connected, and embrace the kind of sexual and emotional fulfillment you truly want.
Whether you’re curious about new experiences, working through a dry spell, or simply want to feel more confident and connected, I’m here to support you—no matter your background, gender, or sexual orientation.
What is the difference between a Sex Coach and a Therapist:
A sex coach focuses on helping individuals or couples improve their sexual confidence, communication, and skills through education and practical guidance, much like a personal coach for intimacy and pleasure. In contrast, a sex therapist is a licensed mental health professional who addresses the psychological and emotional aspects of sexual concerns, such as trauma, anxiety, or relationship issues, using therapeutic techniques. While a sex coach supports personal growth and goal-setting, a sex therapist treats deeper emotional or clinical issues that affect sexual well-being.
